Gardens of the Heart
“Try and be a sheet of paper with nothing on it.
Be a spot of ground where nothing is growing,
where something might be planted,
a seed, possibly, from the Absolute.” - Rumi
Are you navigating a life transition? Wondering who you are in this new phase of life? Are you caught up in the busyness of life and just want a moment to recall the things that bring you joy, that light you up, that make you whole?
Gardens of the Heart is a beautiful immersive workshop created to give space to explore the things that make your soul sing. Using creativity, artistic expression, journaling, movement and guided meditation we will use the truly beautiful words of Sufi philosophy and poetry as springboards into exploring our own sense of being.
Gardens play a central role in Sufi mysticism. The poets including Rumi and Hafiz share ideas of tending to the care of the soul as a garden, and the wonders of life through the changing seasons. Their gentle wisdom can help us as we navigate modern life.
Our time together at this workshop will be a chance to take time out. Go deep. Explore your inner world, and remind yourself of the things that bring meaning and inspiration into your life.
We’ll gather in the beautiful historic Homestead in the Keirunga Gardens in Havelock North. We’ll meditate, paint, journal, observe nature and enjoy the company of each other and the songs in our hearts.
Art Materials will be provided. If you have a nice journal you like to write/draw in, you are welcome to bring that with you.
Please bring some light food, kai to share.
